  Criteria for studies to be included in the database of studies

1.0 Introduction

The council on Higher Education (CHE), through the Directorate of Policy, Strategy and Information is charged with the responsibility of, among other things, managing research and general information on higher education sector in Lesotho. To achieve this objective, CHE is expected to disseminate research studies on the higher education sector undertaken by CHE, other institutions or independent researchers as well as information pertaining to major events within the sector. Research findings and research related information will be disseminated through platforms such as seminars and workshops organised by CHE, CHE website and pamphlets. It is against this background that CHE is compiling reports of studies undertaken on education in Lesotho or information pertaining to studies that are currently on-going or are in the pipeline. This is done with the objective of:

  • Developing a database of studies on education in Lesotho for easier access by researchers, educators, policy makers and other stakeholders interested in education;

  • Identifying the research needs of the education sector for purposes of developing the research agenda;

  • Disseminating research findings done by CHE, other institutions or independent researchers as well as information pertaining to major events within the sector through various platforms including seminars and workshops to be organised by CHE, including the CHE website and pamphlets.

The database to be developed will largely be on higher education in Lesotho. It will be developed using a wide range of study reports and articles published on education in Lesotho. It will contain actual publications in PDF format, brief summaries of studies that are on-going, commissioned research studies reports and articles that focus on higher education in Lesotho. For studies with no reports available, links to websites/email addresses where the report can be obtained will be included. The database will be updated on a regular basis. It will -:

  • Serve as a valuable resource to a wide range of researchers, policy makers, educators and those interested in education;

  • Provide a forum for assisting researchers to disseminate their own work.

We would therefore welcome any research reports or articles that are focused on the education sector, and which may contribute to the growth of the database. This will be a quick and free process that offers users a facility to disseminate their reports.
