The Information Technology Committee (ITC) is constituted as a Committee of the Council on Higher Education (Council) in accordance with Section 26 of the Council’s Governance Policy and Charter.
The responsibilities of the ITC shall be to:
- Review and monitor the on-going appropriateness and relevance of the CHE’s policy for the allocation of the resources required to deliver both the short-term and long-term information technology strategy;
- Approve any major changes in any information technology strategies, priorities and/or structures implemented throughout the organisation;
- Oversee any major information technology projects with a cost of more than M100 000 or which the Committee consider are of significant importance to the organisation and seek to ensure their timely and efficient implementation;
- Approve all information and technology standards and procedures;
- Review and monitor on-going appropriateness and relevance of the CHE’s information management and data governance framework and systems including those relating to compliance to relevant data management regulations;
- Oversee all key performance indicators and operating levels for the provision of information technology services within the organisation and monitor their delivery;
- Ensure value for money in the provision of information technology services;
- Ensure appropriate business continuity arrangements are in place relating to information technology;
- Ensure that information and technology risks are identified, assessed and managed in line with relevant frameworks and recommend actions in liaison with the AFRMC;
- Work and liaise with all other committees and the Board, as applicable.
