CHE and ZIMCHE Convene the 7th SAQAN Conference to Advance Quality Assurance in Higher Education Across the SADC Region
Harare, Zimbabwe 23-25 September 2026
The Council on Higher Education (CHE) of Lesotho, as Secretariat of the Southern African Quality Assurance Network (SAQAN), in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE), successfully convened the 7th SAQAN Conference from 23 to 25 September 2026 at the Harare International Conference Centre and Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Held under the theme, “Fostering Excellence in Higher Education through Effective Internal and External Quality Assurance Systems: Best Practices, Critical Success Factors, Challenges and Opportunities in the SADC Region,” the conference brought together higher education leaders, quality assurance agencies, policymakers, academics, researchers and institutional representatives from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The conference provided a strategic platform for dialogue on strengthening quality assurance systems to enhance institutional performance, improve student outcomes, promote research excellence, and support regional integration through harmonised quality standards and mutual recognition of qualifications.
CHE was represented by four officials including the Chief Executive, Dr. Moeketsi Letele.
