CHE Holds a Successful Higher Education Fair – 2023

CHE Holds 8th Higher Education Fair After COVID-19 Induced Break

The Council on Higher Education (CHE) organised the eighth Higher Education Fair for two days in March 2023 shortly after the release of LGCSE/COSC results.  This is in line with its mandate to provide information to the public on higher education, and to promote access to higher education. This annual event is a unique opportunity for students preparing to apply and enrol at higher education institutions to obtain information on programmes offered by these institutions and their requirements as well as funding opportunities in one place. The institutions also get an opportunity, through this platform, to showcase their programmes and work.

The specific objectives of the Higher Education Fair were as follows:

  1. To provide higher education institutions with a platform to showcase their programmes;
  2. To enable prospective tertiary students to obtain necessary information on higher education in one place;
  3. To give financiers of tertiary students an opportunity to showcase their offerings; and
  4. To provide career guidance to the prospective tertiary students with a specific focus on career paths that are within the national priorities;

The Fair was officially opened by the acting Minister of Education and Training Honourable Pitso Lesaoana, substantively Minister of Social Development, Sports and Culture.  In his key note address, he advised students to take full advantage of the opportunity presented by this fair. He thanked CHE and higher education institutions for providing this important platform. He indicated that Government plans to approve policies that will facilitate recognition of skills and mobility of learners and professionals. The full report is available on the CHE website.
