The Chief Executive attended a three-day SADCQF Technical Committee on Certification and Accreditation (TCCA) in Johannesburg

The Chief Executive of the Council on Higher Education, Dr. Moeketsi Letele, recently attended a three-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) Technical Committee on Certification and Accreditation (TCCA) meeting in Johannesburg. The gathering brought together Member States, the SADC Secretariat, and regional and continental partners to advance the revision and implementation of the SADC Qualifications Framework (SADCQF). The meeting marked a pivotal milestone in the regional reform process initiated in 2025, signalling a decisive shift for SADCQF from a policy-oriented model to active, practical implementation. Key outcomes from the session included:

• Validation of the revised SADCQF Policy and Guidelines, aligning regional standards with the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF).
• Validation of the SADC RPL Practitioners’ Handbook to formalise learning acquired outside standard education.
• Commitment to reactivating the SADC Qualifications Verification Network (QVN) to build trust across national systems.
• Embracing digital innovation through the continental Qualifications and Credentials Platform (QCP).
• Integrating modern elements into national systems, specifically targeting the expansion of micro-credentials.
